Its been a long time since i was thrilled again to play this MMORPG. I’m tired of the usual things that most mmorpg serve and that is HACK n’ SLASH, its where you just hack the monster down till it was dead. yeah i know its pretty enjoyable to some other player and is pretty easy to understand how you kill the monster but i wanted more of a challenge something that will make use of your strategic skills and your management skill to control other set of characters.

Thank god i found a MMO suited for my game style which is STRATEGIC “turn based” RPG ala FINAL FANTASY and SUIKODEN ( btw love those games ).its ATLANTICA ONLINE.

btw my IGN is “Enygma”

I just noticed it b’coz of their banner ads through diffrent website that i visited often like here in friendster, youtube (etc). the banner ad says its turn based so i was intrigue to check it out and to try it. I played a lot of MMORPG like Ragnarok, Maple Story, Lineage 2, etc.. this is the first time i encountered a turn based on a MMORPG, i basically felt excited when i saw the screenshotsand videos of the game, i said to myself its really turn based coz i actually never played a turn based MMORPG.

Now let me point out whats instore for you when you play ATLANTICA ONLINE. first the you will see when you login is that there is 3 vs 3 party going on the back ground so you’ll get a sneak peek on what to expect. After selecting a server on which you will reside you get to create your character your way. As in you’ll get to choose your weapon and gender not much to choose from face features but it is still nice.

Now when you first play the game you will warped to a place where you will get 3 free mercenaries that will aide you through battle every 10 levels you get space to add on a new merc to your ranks so a total of 8 mercs and a total of 9 people in your party including your main characters, yeah that’s right mercenaries you will get to choose from a variety from melee to range to magic user. Ofcourse that’s only the basic grade mercenaries you’ll get higher grade mercenaries through a certain quest chain inorder to get them to join your band of mercenaries. The first few quest will tell you the basics of the game its part of a long long long chain of quest (so if you’re a quest driven gamer like me this game is defenitely for you coz you’ll never run out of quest). And they auto-move function where you just click it and just watch your character zoom in to the quest NPC or monster that you will kill.

Ok now let me tell you the PROs and CONs of the different aspect of the game.

First the PROs

-Its quite unique to see a turn based strategy play style put in a 3D MMORPG. I think this is my first time to see one and im impressed about it

-Information about item drops, weapon, equipments, mercenaries even monster (that you will have to collect btw) is impressing also in this game you’ll get to see whats up and coming for you to have you don’t have to wait for another player to wave the weapon or new set of armor so you can see it. You can see it in them item information book as I call it beacause it has tons and tons of information about the items that you will want ingame. Plus you will have this monster information you’ll get this if you fight the monster several times the information is broken into 3 parts: First is Basic Info – monster name, hp, mp, magic used. Second is Location Info – this will tell you where that monsters spawns and Lastly Item info – this is quite useful coz you will know what that monster’s drop and how often do they drop it. the perk in collecting all of the monster’s info is that you get an advantage to this monster you’re damage will be raised on that monster and the drops will increase.

-Tired of clicking the mouse till get to that next quest npc NDOORS has a solution for that and that is AUTO-MOVE just click on the button and watch as your character move along a path towards your next quest. Pretty cool huh? And that’s not it when you have an AUTO-BATTLE LICENSE you’ll get see you’re whole party do battle using the AI so you can watch tv while your party dukes it out with the monster, ofcourse there is chance that you will lose to that monster specially if the monsters level is higher than you.

-The MAP this is where im very much impressed because ATLANTICA ONLINE took a rough drafting of the whole EARTH MAP, yes our very own planet EARTH as the battle ground for this MMO. you get to see different parts of the world playing this MMO. that’s not all the towns name is the REAL DEAL city name of that country for example if you in japan the towns name are KYOTO,TOKYO and if youre in europe you’ll get to see PARIS, AMSTERDAM, etc.. its pretty cool to live in same town as your living right now, but not all of the CITIES in that COUNTRY is listed only a select few but still its quite impressing.

-CRAFTING is one great thing about this game because it will enable you craft your own equips so this game lets the player set their own market trend if the demand is high and the supply is low on a certain armor you can sell high and sell low if there are a saturation of that item in the market. only the basic raw material have fixed prices meaning you can just buy them in the market or you can just gather them from monster drop, but some material are only dropped by certain types of monster so you’ll have to loot them.

-QUEST this is game has a very long quest chain so you’ll have a goal in mind and not just grind blindlessly so if you hate grinding day in and day out you’ll have the option to do the quest line. Also certain mercenaries are available thru quest like the elusive SPARTAN which the quest starts if you reach level 100. That will be a sweet addition to your party.

-STAMINA system it’s a PRO to me but some other thinks it’s a CON but it really helps you a lot coz when you run out of stamina it means your playing the game alone too much, time to socialize with the ever friendly community. There are ways to raise you’re stamina one is if you share monster info or crafting info to others in need you’ll raise it by 1 another is if you do not fight for 10 mins ingame you also gain +1 stamina, well it’s a matter on how you spend on your stamina. Its like giving you an allowance each day for you to use wisely.

-TOWN managing system this is very impressive coz guilds can vouch for a town for them to control its like a castle but it all depends to the guild on how to develop it. Which will help them fund their needs.

-BATTLE SYSTEM im astonished about this coz they develop like a final fantasy, suikoden and many turn based console game. Im hand down to this. Nuf said

Now for the CONs

-About the AUTO-MOVE it follows a certain path where you might bump into a monster without the intention of fighting it. Not much of a problem in some areas.

-AUTO-BATTLEwell you don’t have the option where you can control them not to use magic because I think if they are able to use magic they will use magic and if theyre sp has run out they will stop attacking im hoping they will give a solution for this in the future.

-NOT many TOWNERS available and they all look the same I think more raise not only asians and europeans so we can see something new when we walk the country side not the same face over and over

Hmm I think ATLANTICA ONLINE will make its mark in the MMORPG coz of its unique battle system I think many players want to strategize more than hacking and slashing their way to victory. It has a growing friendly community that will help newbies feel good as they strategize their way to glory.
